Sevani sorority suspended on hedging charges


SEWANEE, Tenn. (WSMV) — A sorority at The University of the South has been suspended over allegations of hiding new members and “abusive treatment.”

“During Shake Day, members were seen instructing new members to “chug” and their cups had the word “chug” written on them,” the website read. “During this time, new members were made to wear yellow rubber gloves, baby bibs and other unusual items with the phrase “Teecup” painted on their bodies.

The sorority will be able to apply for its return for the fall semester of 2023.
